iconographic description:
clearance of the colonnade of the louvre, 1st arrondissement. In the foreground of the image on the left, three figures in front of a ruined chapel. Opposite on the right, two men from behind are chatting while looking at the demolition site of the queen's stables. In front of them, a horse and a drawn cart filled with stones; a ladder leaning against the back of the car allows a worker loaded with stone to access the dumper. In the background, the colonnade of the louvre. Historical commentary:
the petit-bourbon hotel built in 1303 was partly destroyed in 1527, after the betrayal of the constable jean ii de bourbon. In the 17th century the chapel and the large room of the hôtel de bourbon still existed. To the north of the land, the queen's stables were built, to the south, the crown storage facility, demolished in 1758, during the work undertaken to clear the surroundings of the louvre. The chapel was demolished in 1664. Institution: carnavalet museum, history of paris
inventory number: d. 5191. Date: between 1753 and 1763.
