The person in the photo is stanisław rabiński, legionnaire, cavalry lieutenant, commander of the 3rd cavalry of the 2nd lancers of the polish legions. He participated in the entire campaign of the 2nd brigade of the polish legions. After the oath crisis, he joined the polish auxiliary corps, where he served as deputy commander of the 2nd pkp lancers regiment. In february 1918, as a result of the 2nd brigade crossing the front near rarańcza, stanisław rabiński, together with the entire 2nd uhlan regiment, was interned by the austrians in the dulfalva camp in hungary. After being released from internment, he joined the polish armed forces, where he became deputy commander of the cavalry training course. After poland regained independence in november 1918, he joined the polish army. During the second polish republic, he served in the cavalry, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. In this photo, stanisław rabiński is dressed in a lance with a fur collar, breeches tucked into his boot uppers and a forage cap with a legionary eagle. The photo was probably taken in czewel (a village in volhynia near kowel). From march 30 to mid-may 1916, the 2nd uhlan regiment of the polish legions was stationed there. Date: April 1916.
