Harrowing of hell by M.Bathas (16th c.), Markos Bathas

The descent into hell late 16th century, 42. 5x48. 5cm. Markos bathas (1498-1578) this image follows the pictorial model of image no. 6 of the museum. Here christ is not surrounded by glory and there are no angels with the symbols of the passion. Adam kneels on the sarcophagus cover, which is placed diagonally, john the forerunner gestures to christ, and the chained hades breathes fire from his mouth. Date: late 16th century.
