The tourist restaurant was destroyed by a fire in 1889, which damaged the already dilapidated tower. The tower was then repaired and a half-timbered floor and a steep pyramid roof were added. At the same time, a two-storey brick building was added to the tower, which served as a tourist café until the second world war.
