I had so much with me that i really didn’t need to go hungry. Of course i looked for it, but i immediately thought that it had stayed at home. I had the sausage with me, you know, it tasted great. I’m just sorry that you ran around so much and didn’t find me. It wouldn’t have been because of the sausage, but i would have seen you again. Mamschl, how can you write to me and tell me to tell lisel that i have a bad mother. I can't lie like that when i have the sweetest and best [mother there is. ]. Date: 19 May 1944.
