this drawing is possibly a copy of a scene from i modi. The i modi scene that it possibly copies can be seen on an engraving that is in the national library of spain. See other versions below for an image of this engraving. The scene of i modi that is on this engraving in the national library of spain is not present in the woodcut booklet of i modi[1] and none of the fragments thought to be by agostino veneziano in the british museum are related to this scene. [2][1]
i modi was a book thought to have been created in around 1524 to 1527. [3] this book contained engravings of sexual scenes. [3][2] the engravings were created in a collaboration between giulio romano and marcantonio raimondi. [3]
a a second drawing by johan tobias sergel has similarities to this drawing above that copies a scene from i modi. Artist: johan tobias sergel (1740 - 1814)
date: no date attributed in the book that this drawing is in.
