Each king leads a procession. The three groups head towards a building located in the center, also called “montjoye”, topped with the star. The wise men represent the three ages of life: the adolescent, the man and the old man. Gaspard, the young man at the top right, is followed by two black figures. Balthasar, the man, is placed on the left and melchior, the old man (here in the image of the byzantine emperor manuel ii paleologus), at the bottom right.
