Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 710, 27 March 1916

710. A group of tombstones around the cemeteries of the village. Livunovo, melnishka district. In melniško and petrichko, every grave is "family" - all members of a family are buried in it, as long as the time between the death of one and the other is not shorter than one year. For each deceased, they place a marble cross, and almost every grave has 3,4,5, b and more monuments stuck side by side. The crosses are four-winged, decorated with symbolic figures: a rosary - for an old man, an angel - for a young person, a necklace - [for] a young bride; month, sun, etc. The older ones are inscribed in greek, and the newer ones - in bulgarian. Average dimensions: 45x30x3 cm. Sketched on 27. Iii. 1916. Date: 27 March 1916.
