Pavilions of sudan and senegal at the 1900 paris world fair. The architect who conceived the buildings, scellier de gisors, borrowed a few architectural characteristics of mosques to conceive the pavilions. The statue exhibited here between the two pavilions represents general faidherbe, who had been one of the major military figures in charge of the french colonial expansion in senegal in the 1850s.
