Schooner Colonia-02, 24 July 1897

Larchmont yacht club commodore clarence ashley postley's schooner colonia (designed and built as a sloop in 1893 by herreshoff to be a candidate in the 1893 america's cup) rerigged as a schooner under the supervision of archibald cary smith, who fitted her with a centerboard. She is pictured here on the last race of the larchmont race week, which she won amidst the failure of her opponent the emerald to start and a streak of other accidents.
