An arch of Rome., Edvard Petersen, 1881

An arch of Rome., Edvard Petersen, 1881

The experts at sotheby's read the inscription as arco di pilo. That may very well be what petersen wrote, but there is no such arch in rome. The arch in the painting, however has a striking resemblance to the arch of titus (arco di tito), so that is probably what petersen meant. Object Type: painting. Date: 1881. Dimensions: height: 65 cm (25.5 in); width: 97 cm (38.1 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Unknown. Edvard Petersen - En triumfbue i Rom - 1881
