Grand duke constantine nikolaevich of russia (1827-1892), facing right in black coat with gold lacing and gold embroidered black collar, red-bordered gold epaulettes, wearing the blue moiré sash and breast star of the imperial russian order of st. Andrew oval, 1 5/8 in. (42 mm. ) high, rectangular gilt-metal mount within fitted leather case given by the sitter to colonel grey in 1847 after a 2 month tour in england together, the colonel having refused to accept a presentation snuff-box. Date: 19th century.
