X. 38. Dear parents, i would like to begin my letter by sending you my warmest greetings and thank you for your kind letter which i received yesterday. Unfortunately i have to inform you that i will not be celebrating my birthday at home. Much to our dismay, our transport does not leave until december 18-20. It is good that we have been informed at all. Before, we did not even know whether we would be coming home at all this year. But you must not make a big deal out of it. It is no different this time. I would ask you, mama, for siegi's jacket because it is [already damn cold here. ] (on the right edge vertically:) send me a pair of warm half socks if possible. Date: 30 October 1938.
