„azure a chief argent, an armed, langued and crowned azure lion passant gules, above a valley vert with a bridge argent. “ the arms were granted and devised in 1938. The lion in the upper part is the lion of the counts of berg, who owned the area. The lower part shows the bridge which was opened in 1936 and connected the düssel- and neander-valleys. The town already had a nickname as the gate to the land of berg, which is also symbolised by the bridge. Date: 1938.
