Fire at the san carlo theater on 12 february 1816. (palazzo zevallos collection, naples). "fire of the real teatro san carlo, oil on canvas paper (37x54), signed lower right "s. Fergola 1816". On the occasion of the exhibition at palazzo zevallos stigliano, doubts emerged about fergola's signature. In fact he is reported as "unknown", active in the first half of the 19th century. The same applies to the painting "the real teatro san carlo after the fire", in this second painting after the cleaning and removal of the repaintings that emerged a second signature "de stefano / painted 1818". The s. Fergola signatures in the two paintings would therefore be a camouflage dating back to around the mid-20th century" (salvatore imperato). Date: between 1816 and 1846.
