Wilhelm von gloeden (1856-1931), four youths on the terrace at villa barbaja in naples. They are the some models featured in gloeden's most iconic shot "terra di fuoco" (land of fire). The model seated is pasquale, from taormina, who was brought along by gloeden and who on the occasion posed also for his cousin, wilhelm von plueschow. Which allows to date this set of images, since pasquale posed in a roman villa at pompaeii opened to visitors in 1896, for a set which was printed in march 1898. Which implies the images featuring him in naples date either from 1896 or summer 1897 (this print was, however, signed and dated in 1914). Catalogue number: g 0030 of the special size catalogue (27,5 x 37,5 cm) doubling as ̊# 1496 in the ordinary format, i. E. Cm 18x24, catalogue. Date: 1896/1898. Printed in 1914..
