Portrait of albert vii, archduke of austria (1559-1621), misidentified with his cousin alexander farnese (1545-1592)
copy made in the 19th century of a portrait of albert vii, traditionally thought to be alexander farnese and probably made by otto van veen. Identification proposed by user ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with some portraits of albert of austria, for example, those made by otto van veen and frans pourbus the younger (see images below). On the other hand, there is no resemblance to the character we are dealing with and the known portraits of alexander farnese, such as the one made by otto van veen located in the royal museums of fine arts of belgium (see the fourth image below). Object Type: painting. Date: 16th century (original work) - 19th century (this copy). Dimensions: height: 65 cm (25.5 in) ; width: 53.5 cm (21 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Château d'Eu. Alexandre Farnèse, duc de Parme + 1592
