Portrait de Madame Dacier, Roger de Piles, 1822

Portrait de Madame Dacier, Roger de Piles, 1822

This portrait was painted on porcelain by marie-victoire jaquotot. It was long thought to be that of anne dacier (1647–1720), french scholar, translator, commentator and editor of the classics. There are now doubts about that identity, and about that of the painter whose original painting served as inspiration for this one; previously attributed to roger de piles, it is now thought it more likely to have been françois de troy. Date: 1822. Dimensions: height: 6.8 cm (2.6 in); width: 5.5 cm (2.1 in). Medium: miniature on porcelain. Collection: Louvre Museum. Anne Dacier par Marie-Victoire Jaquotot d'apres Roger de Piles
