Satire on unsophisticated singers. Eight male singers, heavily caricatured, in a box pew inside a gothic church are singing from a book; one man on the right plays a recorder. Behind, on the left, the bust of a man is attached to the wall; on the right is a hatchment with a verse below reading, 'stephen and time / are now both even / stephen beat time / now time beat stephen'; after date erased.
