The Rival Milleners, 1778-1779 (circa)

Satire on seductive milliners: the interior of a shop with an attractive young woman wrapping lace around the wrist of a young officer who looks up at her admiringly, while another young woman stands behind measuring the width of his shoulders. On the counter is a box of laces and a bust on which the officer's hat has been placed; other boxes, one labelled 'love', are on shelves behind the counter and a hat hangs on the other wall.
