Plaque with Putto Supporting a Vase, Martial Courteys

The plaque is the upper left corner of a frame-embellishment and is curved to fit an oval or arched central panel. The putto reproduces a detail of an ancient relief found in ravenna representing the empty throne of neptune, which marco dente engraved in 1519 (bibliothèque nationale, estampes, eb 6 res 41). Date: circa 1580 (?) (Renaissance). Place of creation: Limoges, France. Dimensions: height: 12.8 cm (5 in); width: 7.1 cm (2.7 in). Medium: painted enamel on copper. Collection: Walters Art Museum.
