"Portrait of Maria Theresa of Austria", Nicolas de Largillière

So-called portrait of maria theresa of austria (1717-1780), but is probably a depiction of her mother elisabeth christine of brunswick-wolfenbüttel (1691-1750) identification proposed by user ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with some portraits of empress elisabeth (see images below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to other representations of maria theresa. Date: circa 1720 (approach based on the sitter's clothing and hairstyle). Dimensions: height: 29 in (73.6 cm); width: 24 in (60.9 cm). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Unidentified location.
