Unidentified infantry corporal (Union), between 1861 and 1865

Cased ambrotype with half-length portrait of young man wearing dark, single-breasted uniform coat with double striped chevrons on his sleeves identifying his rank as corporal. The horn on his large brimmed hat is for infantry. He is wearing a shoulder belt with a round belt plate. An oval "us" buckle, partially obscured by his hand, is on his belt. His belt plate, buckle and a coat button are colored gold. Title: unidentified infantry corporal (union). Date: between 1861 and 1865.
