Gold medal for 50 ducats from 1690, made in celle by the court goldsmith, mint master and medalist ernst brabandt and arvid karlsteen: armored and draped bust of prince georg wilhelm of brunswick-lüneburg with a full wig to the right a rearing or jumping horse over a landscape indicated by rocks, bushes and trees within the inscription "quo fas et gloria ducent" this coin weighing 172. 09 g, offered by the gorny & mosch giessener münzhandlung in auction 303 with the lot number 1105, is "of the utmost rarity" and is the second example known by the beginning of 2024. This gold medal, of which there is also a silver version, shows edge defects and dents and is therefore classified as excellent in its condition. The 57 mm diameter specimen with a smooth edge was offered for a later auction in early 2024 for an estimated price of 40,000 euros. Date: 1690.
