Portrait of queen anna paulowna (1795-1865), tsar nicholas i romanov (1796-1855) and michael romanov (1798-1849) as children // historical collections foundation of the house of orange-nassau, the hague // 27 x 24 cm at soestdijk palace, no. 511 a number of works of art, preserved in the royal collections, testify to anna paulowna's artistic talent. As is customary for daughters from royal families, anna started receiving art education at an early age. Here we see 11-year-old anna with a drawing folder and pen, surrounded by two of her brothers, the grand dukes nicholas (tsar from 1825-1855) and michael. Date: 1806 (dated). Medium: oil.
