Vii. 42. My dear mum! i have already written to you today. This evening i sent a package to you. I hope you get it very soon and that everything is safe and sound. I also sent fählner’s watch; it’s in the little tin box. You’ll see what a “calabrese” it is. - how are you, dear mum? i wait every day for a letter from you. How is work? did you get my letter and card? what’s new at home? things are going badly with the food stamps? don’t save anything, buy as much as you can. If you work, you have to eat well. You don't need to worry about me, i'm fine. You know i don't let myself get down. I worked in the liqueur factory for another week and now the assignment has expired. Date: 14 July 1942.
