seven men with animal heads are swimming. On the edge of the pool are a bird jumping into the water, a duck wrapped in a towel and a frog ready to dive. In the water, a fish, a frog and a mouse with a top hat are swimming. To the right of the stage, a dog is coming out of the water via the ladder. Extract from métamorphoses du jour (editions gustave havard libraire, paris, 1854): "these few cubic feet of water where the burlesque crowd of parisian amateurs goes to bathe [. . . ] at the swimming school [. . . ] the day grandville made his appearance there he really found the diver, the water rat, the frog, etc. , and did not bring back caricatures. "
