Asahina Saburô, Yashima Gakutei, 1823

The actor seki sanjûrô ii (1786-1839) in the role of asahina saburo in the play about the soga brothers. Saburo was a vassal of kudo suketsune who defected to the enemy, the soga brothers. The description of his performance is in two poems: there he is, spread its wings like a crane at the top of a pine tree, his face painted red - asahina, the flower of the third gallery.
