Cottage interior from sorunda. An old couple sit by the open hearth engaged in intimate conversation. The man has just taken a glowing coal with tongs to light his pipe. The matches were still in the 1850s such a precious commodity that they were not consumed unnecessarily. The man's costume as well as the woman's ear cap and striped sweater are typical for the place. The interior is in its whole extremely faithfully reproduced.
