demolition of the chapel, trousseau hospital, 12th arrondissement, paris
historical commentary:
in the minutes of the old paris commission of may 11, 1905, p. 88: ratification of an "emergency order for a photograph, taken during its demolition, of the old foundling chapel in the faubourg saint-antoine. The view is taken at the moment when only a single section of wall remains, standing in the middle of the ruins and still showing the painted calvary of the main altar, flanked by two ionic pilasters. The striking aspect of this demolition deserved to be recorded. This will probably be the last souvenir of the hospital chapel of the chancellor of aligre which will enter the boxes of the carnavalet museum. "
