1857 portrait of robert h. Vance. Robert h. Vance (1825-1876), was an early daguerrotypist and photographer in california from 1851-1862, with galleries throughout northern california, including sacramento, marysville, san jose and san francisco. He was the first person to teach carleton watkins to take photos. San jose public library collection dimensions 5 x 7 in. Collection clyde arbuckle photograph collection. Date: 1857.
