The united states was built by alex. Stephen & sons of glasgow (yard no. 400). Launched and completed in 1903 and delivered to the danish d. F. D. S. Line for their service beween scandinavia and the u. S. A. , known as skandinavien - amerika linien. Crossed the atlantic 462 times in that capacity.
