The ceremony is probably related to the heroic fight of soldiers and officers of the 3rd infantry regiment of the polish legions in the battles of november 5 and 10, 1915 over styr. The poor quality of the photo makes it impossible to identify the decorated soldiers. The decorated person is probably lt. Col. Henryk minkiewicz (commander of the 3rd lp infantry regiment), and standing behind him is capt. Józef szczepan. The officer visible behind f. Küttner is probably the chief of staff of the 2nd lp brigade, capt. Vagas. The photo was taken in winter, in a covered trench near kostiuchnówka on the styr river. Date: grudzień 1915 - luty 1916.
