View from the balcony above the main entrance of the welfenschloss (now leibniz university hannover). The tower of the christ church, which was planned as a residential church, can be seen at the bottom left between the easternmost sandstone figure and the oriel window that looks like a tower. The area between the castle and the church was the deserted village of puttensen, which today is only remembered by the street name "am puttenser felde". In the middle of the picture is another library of the leibniz university hannover, on the far right is the former administrative headquarters of continental ag and the allianz high-rise building on königsworther platz, behind it the new town hall from 1914, which some tourists confuse with "the welfenschloss".
