My dearly beloved mother! the lord has given you and me great joy, i am in germany, our wonderful homeland! you have probably already received my letter from warsaw. Back then i no longer expected to come to the reich. On the 14th the doctor came by during his rounds and wrote me up for the hospital train to germany. I didn't know what to do to be happy. So on the 15th i set off again on a lovely hospital train, but this time sitting in a second class compartment. None of us knew where we were going, everyone naturally wanted their [home as their final destination. ]. Date: 19 December 1943.
