Description street makers on the rokin
seen near the spui in a northerly direction. In the background on the left are the low buildings near the beurspoortje. Further to the right the beginning of the buildings on the odd side of the rokin, with the highest point being the goulmij en baar cigar factory (rokin 31, 1893) and then to the right a significant jump in building height at the wijde lombardsteeg. The yellow building on the right is rokin 95. Breitner used his own photo of road builders on the western islands for the group of pavers. Gouache. Technique: opaque paint on watercolor paper. .
