In this, the fifth in klinger’s series on death, part one, death occurs in a seemingly peaceful landscape. In a large meadow bordered by woods, a nanny has fallen asleep upon a bench. Beside her is a baby carriage, beneath which lies fallen bedding. On a path in the distance, toward the darkness of the forest, death leads the child away, dead as a result of its fall. Date: 1889.
