Shebuev, vasily kuzmich (1777, kronstadt - 1855, st. Petersburg) - painter, draftsman; author of religious and historical compositions, genre painter, master of monumental and historical paintings. Studied at the imperial academy of arts (1782-1797), from 1791 - under the supervision of i. A. Akimov and g. I. Ugryumov. In 1794 he was awarded a small silver medal, in 1797 - a large silver and small gold medals. Upon graduation, he was left as a pensioner at the academy of arts with the duties of an assistant teacher in the life drawing class from 1798. Appointed (1798). Pensioner of the academy of arts in italy (1803-1807). Upon his return - academician and adjunct professor of historical painting; professor (since 1812), rector of painting and sculpture (since 1831); director of the imperial tapestry manufactory in st. Petersburg (1821–1838). Depicted in the ceremonial uniform of the imperial academy of arts with the order of st. Vladimir, 4th class, st.
