Lost in the Fog (Walker), Joseph Swain, 1860

Illustration for the story "lost in the fog. " depicts a dead man being fished out of the thames after a foggy day; he is assumed to have fallen in by not seeing the edge, such accidents being not uncommon. The tall figure at the center of the picture is, in the story, a passing gentleman who says he knows the dead man. Once a week magazine, volume 2, page 370. Date: 1860.
