"El primer nueva crónica y buen gobierno" by Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala, pg 862, circa 1615

Drawing depicting “la borachera, machasca,” may be referring to taki onqoy. The woman in the text is scolding the devil, who has possessed the man drinking heavily (guaman poma de ayala 1615:862[876]). The quechua text reads “auaya ayauaya! machac, machaclla. Tucuy cay upyac, upyaclla. Tucuy cay quimnac, quipnaclla. Tucuy cay camca serui, suyulla. Mina suyulla. ” in spanish, this translates to “awaya, ayawaya! el borracho, es sólo un borracho, el bebedor sólo un bebedor, quien vomita, sólo vomita. Lo que te toca es servirte, diablo. Las minas son lo que le toca. ” in english, this translates to “awaya, ayawaya! the drunk is just a drunk, the drinker just a drinker, the vomiter only vomits. What you do is serve yourself, devil. The mines are where you belong”. Date: circa 1615.
