Plate 24: the stage of the infante isabella clara eugenia, in the form of a monumental two-tiered archway, at the centre a large portal approached by a flight of steps, with two smaller flanking portals on either side; at centre of upper storey, tympanum filled with large picture representing philip iv appointing prince ferdinand governor of the netherlands; a plaque below bears dedication to isabella; flanking the picture on either side are double twisting columns, with the figure of public health ('salus publica') holding a serpent and patera at left, and the figure of public security ('securitas') bearing a palm branch and an anchor at right; burning candles ornament the upper storey, with a seven-branched candelabra surmounting the centre pediment, lined on each side with seven more smaller candles; after peter paul rubens; illustration for gaspar gevaerts' "pompa introitus" (antwerp, 1641) etching printed from two plates.
