I am having a wonderful time and am happy and content. I often go out into the countryside and am already nice and tan again. Yesterday was sunday and it was wonderful as always. Today we were able to buy a bottle of wine each; it was very good. The glass is in front of me and i am drinking to your health and well-being and to a happy reunion. Please don't be alarmed; i have a lot to ask of you. Please send me a brillantine, a good hay cream (“pfeilring” [pfeilring lanolin cream by benno jaffé]) as soon as possible, better writing paper and envelopes, a handkerchief and if possible a nail file. I am demanding, right, my mother? please write soon and tell me how you are! once again, your hansl sends you my best wishes and kisses from the heart. Date: 24 April 1944.
