John and richard doe, left and right respectively, are dressed in scraggy and unkept attire. John doe is seen with his arms crossed, with a disgruntled expression on his face, whilst richard doe has his hands in his pockets, with a rather forlorn profile. Both wear black hats and coats, with legal papers stuffed into their pockets. Richard doe looks particularly downtrodden due to visible signs of wear and tear (holes) in his jacket, and stands with the left side of his body facing the viewer. November 6th 1796.
