Jean-françois janinet (1752–1814) after louis-roland trinquesse (around 1745–around 1800): the fashion designer rose bertin (1747–1813). Etching, 12 x 10 cm. Metropolitan museum of art, new york. The painting used as a model remained in the possession of rose bertin's family and was destroyed in world war ii. Like many of trinquesse's works, it was also attributed to jean-honoré fragonard (the metropolitan museum of art still attributes it to this day). Date: before 1790.
