Queen Caroline von Brandenburg-Ansbach, Christian Friedrich Zincke, circa 1727-1730

Queen caroline of brandenburg-ansbach. This miniature is a smaller version of another by christian frederick zincke in the royal collection (rcin 421820). Queen caroline is seen here wearing state robes and an ermine cloak fastened with a gold medusa brooch. The queen's profile is the same as that on her medal, created for the coronation in 1727, by john croker. Croker was a distinguished medalist and had worked at the mint since the reign of william iii and engraved coronation medals for queen anne, george i and george ii. Date: circa 1727-1730.
