Scene from the kabuki play 'oto ni kiku denka chaya-mura', with the actors otani tomoemon as adachi genemon and hiroemon as the servant udesuke (left), bando hikosaburo iv as hayase itori (centre), and matsumoto kinsho (koshiro vi) as toma saburoemon (right). All with swords, confronting each other at night in front of a hedge with a fallen statue. Date: 1848 4th lunar month.
