Three figures, representing political personalities of the day (fox, addington, and hawkesbury), surround a large wicker cradle in which reposes britannia with her thumb in her mouth. Addington, dressed as an old woman, rocks the cradle and sings a song (the dialog bubble starts: "o, by, my baby, my baby. . "); hawkesbury, dressed as a nursemaid, approaches the cradle and carries a child's commode inscribed "french c. . K. . G chair"; and fox, seated behind the cradle, looks at britannia through the corner of his eye as he folds linen on which is inscribed "french cambrick".
