Svensk eskader i Öresund 1812, Jacob Hägg, 1925

The painting shows a squadron of five ships of the line in öresund. On the left, elsinore with kronborg castle. To the right helsingborg with kärnan. On the right is also seen a so-called scanian hunting. The ships of the line are on this occasion, when the fleet was equipped to protect the swedish coast and also in connection with the campaign against norway in 1814, almost 30 years old but still ready for service at sea. Mainly sails the 74-gun ship konung adolf fredrik. Then the sister ship gustaf iii, which has the squadron commander's commander's standard hoisted in the main top. The sides of the ship which were originally brown with black narrow bands have now been repainted in the british style with black sides and white gun port bands. The red galleon and cabin aft have retained their original red colour. After 1814, the ships were laid up at the karlskrona shipyard, never to be fitted out again. Date: 1925.
