Ships stood out in a channel in the shallow river plate and passengers were conveyed ashore by boat and, in the last stage, horse and cart. This watercolour depicts a visiting british admiral. From picturesque illustrations of buenos ayres and monte video, consisting of twenty-four views: accompanied with descriptions of the scenery and of the costumes, manners, &c. Of the inhabitants of those cities and their environs by e. E. Vidal, esq (ackermann: london, 1820). Date: 1820.
