Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-06-15) letter 259 (1944-06-21) next letter (1944-06-25) envelope: front back text [i can tell you that i am doing excellently; i have almost no] pain anymore and, in a word, feel "really good". Unfortunately i still have to lie still in bed, hence the writing, but that doesn't matter! i read a lot and listen to the radio. On sunday herbert came to see me on his bike, and this sunday lisel is coming. It would be nice if i could be at home in a hospital and you could come to me! it's lunchtime now; we're having a great beef soup and then boiled potatoes with spinach and meat rolls. For dessert there's pudding with compote, which is really big, as you can see. Last night we had white bread, one each with sausage, cheese, butter, lard and jam, and sweet, full-milk coffee. Isn't your mouth watering yet? Date: 21 June 1944.
